How TradingView Fits Into a Copy Trading Setup

The most important setup step is to set your TradingView account as the leader of your copy group. That is the account you trade by hand from TradingView, and everything copies from it. Miss this and nothing replicates the way you expect.

When you trade on TradingView, your orders route to your connected broker and fill there. Those filled orders are what Tradecopia reads and copies. So TradingView is the platform you trade your leader account from, and your other futures accounts follow.

Your follower accounts do not use TradingView. They are your accounts on Tradovate, NinjaTrader, Rithmic, or TopstepX, connected directly to Tradecopia. You trade once from TradingView, and every follower receives the same fill in real time.

What You Need Before You Start

Three things need to be in place before your first copied trade.

First, a TradingView account set up for futures execution through a supported broker. TradingView on its own is the front end. The trade still routes to a broker account that Tradecopia can connect to.

Second, the Tradecopia desktop app installed and running. Tradecopia copies trades by listening to live events from your broker in real time. If the app is not open and connected when you place a trade, that trade is not seen and cannot be copied after the fact.

Third, confirmation from your prop firm that copy trading and third party platforms are allowed on your account type. This is your responsibility to check, because firms set their own rules.

How to Copy Trade on TradingView, Step by Step

Once the basics are in place, the setup takes a few minutes.

  1. Connect your accounts in Tradecopia. Add the TradingView account you trade from, and add your other futures accounts on Tradovate, NinjaTrader, Rithmic, or TopstepX. Confirm each shows Connected.
  2. Add a new trading group in the Copy Trade tab and give it a clear name.
  3. Set your TradingView account as the leader. This is the account you trade by hand from TradingView.
  4. Add your other futures accounts as followers.
  5. Set a quantity multiplier per follower. 0.5 takes half the leader’s size, 1 matches it, and 2 doubles it.
  6. Enable the group.
  7. Trade from TradingView as you normally would. Tradecopia mirrors each fill to your followers in real time.

You trade once from TradingView, and the followers copy automatically. There is no cap on how many followers you connect, so you can scale the same decision across several accounts at once. See Tradecopia pricing to get started, or the TradingView trade copier page for the platform specific detail.

Do Your Follower Accounts Need TradingView?

No. TradingView is only for the account you trade by hand, your leader. Your followers receive their trades automatically, so they never touch TradingView.

If you have a Tradovate or Rithmic account you want as a follower, you connect it straight to Tradecopia. There is no reason to route a follower through TradingView. You use TradingView for the charting and order entry on the account you actually trade, and Tradecopia copies those fills to the rest.

Only fills copy. Tradecopia mirrors the orders that actually execute on your leader, not chart drawings, alerts, or indicators. For the platform specific breakdown, see the TradingView trade copier page.

Why Traders Copy on TradingView

Most traders who copy on TradingView are running more than one funded or evaluation account and do not want to place every trade by hand across all of them. Copying lets one decision reach every account at once, which removes the manual work and the small timing differences that come from entering the same trade several times.

This is common among prop firm traders. A trader might hold accounts at more than one firm, place trades on a TradingView leader, and copy to followers across firms that run on supported platforms, such as Apex Trader Funding, Tradeify, or Take Profit Trader. Each firm sets its own rules, so confirm copy trading is allowed on each account before you connect. For the broader multi account workflow, see the prop firm trade copier page.

Common Mistakes That Stop Trades From Copying

Most copy trading problems on TradingView come down to a few causes.

The app was not running when you traded. Tradecopia only copies trades it observes live, so a trade placed while the app was closed or reconnecting cannot be replicated later. Confirm the connected status before you place anything.

No group spans the accounts. Connecting accounts does not link them for copying. A group has to be created that contains the leader and the followers you want, and it has to be enabled.

The firm does not permit copy trading. If your prop firm blocks copy trading or third party tools on your account type, copying may violate the rules. Confirm this before you rely on it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is copy trading illegal?

Copy trading is not inherently illegal. It is a standard tool for running more than one account. What matters is your prop firm’s rules, so confirm your firm allows copy trading and third party platforms on your account type before you use it.

What is the best trade copier for TradingView?

The right copier lets you trade from TradingView and copies those fills to your other futures accounts in real time, with per-account risk controls so you can size each account differently. Tradecopia connects TradingView alongside Tradovate, NinjaTrader, Rithmic, and TopstepX.

Can TradingView be a follower account?

There is no need. TradingView is the platform you trade your leader from. Your followers are your other futures accounts connected to Tradecopia, so you would connect a Tradovate or Rithmic follower directly, without TradingView.

How do I copy my trade?

Build a copy group with one leader account and one or more followers, set a multiplier for each follower, and enable the group. When you trade the leader on TradingView, the fills mirror to the followers automatically.

Which platform is best for copy trading?

It depends on the accounts you already hold. Tradecopia supports Tradovate, NinjaTrader, Rithmic, TopstepX, and TradingView, so you can mix accounts from different platforms in one copy group rather than being locked to one.
